Job Summary:
The Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring CAD design standards and procedures to meet client needs and to align with PDI company goals. The VDC Manager shall provide oversight regarding CAD solutions and software. In this role, the VDC Manager reports to the Executive Vice President. This position is responsible for proposing enhancements to and managing CAD technology, procedures and execution strategies that enable gains in company efficiency and facilitate further growth. The VDC Manager will actively perform Project Management duties for applicable projects and manage the associated staff as necessary. The VDC Manager remains engaged with all departments in PDI. This individual will provide consultative guidance, suggestions, and solutions to accommodate design needs and maximize project efficiency with the use of existing and new software. The VDC Manager is responsible for creating Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) projects and maintaining PDIs ACC space. The VDC Manager will develop and implement procedures using BIM best practices, remaining up to date on Autodesk applications.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Train and oversee CAD users and VCD Technician in core application skills and standards
  • Facilitate training and development
  • Define CAD roadmap and strategy to achieve business goals
  • Develop and manage CAD design execution strategy (create BIM Execution Plan)
  • Evaluate team members for their technical skills, performance, and productivity, suggesting areas for improvement
  • Create long-term value, leveraging software as a competitive advantage
  • Monitor adherence to CAD rules and procedures
  • Attend CAD industry events
  • Identify CAD improvement opportunities and promote company growth
  • Plan the utilization of CAD resources - who is qualified and where do we need improvement?
  • Interview candidates who will be using CAD software and provide technical feedback
  • Monitor and manage CAD support services and company accounts
  • Facilitate correspondence between PDI and CAD software providers
  • Provide project support for design bids, proposals, scopes of work, estimates and schedules
  • Allocate tasks to VDC Technician, IT, and department team members, when appropriate; identify and coordinate capable team members to execute CAD initiatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee content development including, best practices, external resources for content and spec development.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of heavy industrial experience a plus
  • Current working knowledge of CAD software including all relevant Autodesk products, Microstation, Bluebeam, and other discipline specific software.
  • Familiar with process design for Specialty Chemical, Food, Pharmaceutical, Power, and Industrial Clients
  • Knowledge of relevant risk management issues (contractual terms, technical feasibility, etc.)
  • Proven technical and business writing skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be results oriented and a team player
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S., pass a drug and background test and have a valid driver's license
