Job description

The Design Engineer/Drafter is responsible for new product design, from concept to launch. New product launches include training production employees on new builds and processes. Job duties also include daily engineering queue work, test sample construction, installation, test witnessing, as well as some in-house testing.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design new extrusions and sheet metal parts as new product development requires.
  • Coordinate with production to get test samples built (assist with build if necessary).
  • Create/facilitate initial design and assembly drawings for new products as needed.
  • Work with Director of Engineering to develop initial test plans instrumental in obtaining quotes from various test labs.
  • Create product cost analysis as needed
  • Create initial parts lists and drawing sets for new products and work with purchasing department as needed for part sourcing.
  • Create submittal drawings for customer approval
  • Create CNC programs for laser cutter
  • Cad part layouts as required (depending on workload)
  • Create CNC Router Programs using AlphaCAM as required (depending on workload)

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients, and

visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a
