Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed parts and assembly drawings using 3D CAD software, primarily SolidWorks.
  • Design rotating machinery, including electric motors, motor-related components, and higher-level mechanical assemblies.
  • Follow ISO design control guidelines throughout the product development process.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and block tolerance methods to engineering designs.
  • Review customer-designed components and assemblies for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements.
  • Evaluate subcontractor capabilities to ensure technical requirements can be met for fabricated components.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and process instructions to support production.
  • Assist manufacturing teams with product ramp-up activities and production support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
  • Manage projects through all phases, including design, prototype development, scheduling, and final validation.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with a specialization in mechanical design for rotating machinery.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience designing rotating machinery, including bearing selection, tolerancing, and mechanical fit requirements.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Experience working with thermal and mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software preferred.
  • Machine design experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment supporting mechanical assemblies preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of MRP systems, manufacturing systems, and motor manufacturing requirements preferred.
  • Basic understanding of customer interactions and customer support processes preferred.
  • Additional professional training in design engineering through universities, standards committees, industry organizations, or CAD software providers preferred.

Work Environment:
