Job description

CAD Operator
Summary:
Operate CAD system to produce and maintain drawings and models for manufacturing projects. Support engineers in all disciplines through a variety of tasks including proposal drawings, red lines, and sketches.
Reports to:
Director of Engineering
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interact with engineers to create drawings quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain drawing files and coordinate document distribution internally and externally.
  • Understand the uses of drawing revision levels, reference files, GD amp;T and CAD tools.
  • Familiar with drafting and document control practices.
  • Fill in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers.
  • Prepare drawings showing the operation detail level required for manufacturing.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Faxon Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager as needed.
Minimum Education amp; Experience:
Post-secondary school training in drafting (two-year technical certificate or degree from an accredited
institution preferred) or relevant work experience. Well-developed drafting and mechanical drawing skills. Knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science, and engineering technology. Solid background in 3D CAD techniques. Understanding of geometric construction, working drawings, and engineering terms and standards. Proficient in the current release of SolidWorks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge, Skills amp; Abilities Required:
Manage time effectively to accomplish highest-priority goals and objectives. Demonstrate effective spoken and written communication skills.
Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish color.

  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

    • Hearing protection
  5. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Environmental Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee infrequently works in outside weather conditions, occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
