This role focuses on translating customer drawings into efficient manufacturing processes, optimizing layouts, and supporting fabrication from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and project managers to ensure customer drawings meet operational requirements
- Create accurate CAD drawings and models using SolidWorks, SMP, Merry Mech., AutoCAD or similar software
- Design layouts to support a variety of products and frequent changeovers
- Recommend process and layout improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Compile complete fabrication packages, including material layouts, assembly details, and equipment programming
- Generate material requisitions and coordinate with purchasing (including direct purchasing when required)
- Maintain organized layout documentation within department file systems
- Provide updated material lists with cost details to the job shop administrator
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and CAD files
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in metal fabrication
- Hands-on experience with sheet metal and plate fabrication, including forming and bend allowances
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
Hours are:
Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm
The pay is up to $34.00 an hour based on experience
