This role will provide hands-on experience in 3D modeling, drafting, and design documentation while contributing to real-world mechanical design projects. The intern will gain exposure to the full design process, from concept generation through detailed CAD modeling and drawing release.

Duties could include:

  • Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Assist in preparing detailed design documentation, including engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs),and revision updates.
  • Support engineers in developing prototypes by providing accurate CAD data for manufacturing procurement.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses, design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, and drawing quality checks under supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, analyst, procurement, manufacturing) to ensure designs meet requirements and standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into models and drawings.
  • Maintain CAD file organization, version control, and data management within the PLM system.

  • Have completed classes or strong familiarity with 3D CAD modeling utilizing SolidWorks.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create accurate, clear engineering drawings.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills (nice to have):
