Job description

Tool & Die Designer / Engineer

Location: Hazelwood, MO
Schedule: First Shift, Monday–Friday
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Pay: Based on Experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tool & Die Designer / Engineer to join a growing precision manufacturing team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and improving progressive stamping dies, tooling, fixtures, and related manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD design experience, a solid understanding of tooling construction, and the ability to collaborate with manufacturing teams from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Design progressive stamping dies, tooling, fixtures, and related components.
  • Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
  • Work closely with Tool & Die Makers and production teams to ensure tooling is manufacturable and efficient.
  • Modify and improve existing tooling designs to increase performance and reduce downtime.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of tooling issues.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and design records.
  • Participate in tooling tryouts, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and production requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing progressive stamping dies and tooling.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of metal stamping processes and die construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, and tooling fabrication.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Design, or related field.
  • Experience supporting tooling builds from concept through production.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
