Job description

SpecPro Sustainment and Environmental (SSE) is seeking a CAD Technician to support the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado.
The CAD Technician will provide computer-aided design and drafting support to the 50 CES Project Execution team. The position will support development, maintenance, review, and quality control of installation drawings and digital design records using Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Map 3D, Revit, GIS and related applications. The CAD Technician will work with surveying, cartographic, architectural, and engineering information to develop accurate drafting and data visualization products supporting installation facility and infrastructure requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop, revise, and maintain CAD drawings supporting facility and infrastructure projects.
  • Review design drawings for compliance with the National CAD Standard (NCS) and other applicable project standards.
  • Update primary CAD drawings to incorporate verified as-built conditions and changes.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable A/E/C or National CAD Standards for layer structure, text, dimensions, symbology, and other drafting requirements.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of drawings prior to final submission.
  • Maintain drawing version control and clearly identify superseded drawings and records.
  • Prepare and transmit completed drawing packages in PDF and native DWG formats.
  • Analyze and manipulate data from surveying, cartographic, architectural, and engineering sources to develop installation drafting and visualization products.
  • Organize and manage digital drawing files, databases, and associated technical information.
  • Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D and related software, including Map 3D, AutoCAD, and Revit, in support of project execution.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, GIS personnel, construction personnel, and other stakeholders to incorporate verified project and as-built information into installation drawings.
  • Maintain accurate and current CAD documentation supporting the installation's facility and infrastructure records.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Applicants must have U.S. citizenship - required.
  • Applicant must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI) - required.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D - required.
  • Experience with related software such as Map 3D, AutoCAD, GIS, and Revit.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organizing and managing diverse digital databases.
  • Practical knowledge of drafting theories, principles, practices, standards, and applications.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate surveying, cartographic, architectural, and engineering data.
  • Knowledge of the National CAD Standard (NCS) and/or applicable A/E/C CAD standards.
  • Ability to perform detailed drawings and drawing reviews and identify technical or formatting discrepancies.
  • Ability to maintain effective drawing and document version control.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, technical documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required installation and restricted-area access.

Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualification paths:
  • Associate's degree or postsecondary certificate in computer-aided design, engineering technology, or a closely related field; OR
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CAD Technician.

Relevant experience must demonstrate:
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience with related software such as Map 3D, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organizing and managing diverse digital databases.
  • Practical knowledge and application of drafting theories, principles, practices, and applications sufficient to analyze surveying, cartographic, architectural, and engineering information and develop interactive drafting services and data visualization products.

Work Location:
  • Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Position supports the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron CEN Project Execution mission and requires coordination with Government personnel, engineers, project managers, GIS personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Work is primarily performed on-site at Schriever Space Force Base.
  • Remote/telework is not anticipated.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform desk work for extended periods, including sitting and using a computer and CAD workstation.
  • Ability to access facilities and project locations throughout Schriever Space Force Base as required.

Work Environment:
  • Work will primarily be performed in an office environment with periodic facility and project-site visits.
