Job description

SUMMARY:
Dental Laboratory Technician specializing in partials and dentures responsible for the fabrication, modification, and repair of complete and removable partial dentures to restore oral function and appearance. Working from dental prescriptions, impressions, and bite registrations provided by dentists, they use traditional laboratory techniques alongside digital workflows, CAD/CAM systems, and 3D printing technology to produce accurate denture bases, framework components, wax setups, and final prostheses.
STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook.
  2. Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
  3. Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss, or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
  4. Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
  5. Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
  6. Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
  7. Work cohesively with team members.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promote a welcoming environment by fluidly working with team members and greeting and acknowledging all patients.
  2. Fabricate, modify, and repair dental prosthetics-including complete dentures and removable partial dentures-in accordance with written prescriptions from licensed dentists.
  3. Interpret dental prescriptions, impressions, bite registrations, and digital scans to produce accurate, functional, and aesthetically appropriate prosthetic devices.
  4. Utilize traditional laboratory methods and digital technologies, including CAD/CAM systems and 3D printers, throughout the fabrication process.
  5. Select, prepare, and manipulate dental materials (acrylics, resins, metals, and digital materials) in compliance with clinical and quality standards.
  6. Perform denture and partial repairs, relines, adjustments, and remakes as required.
  7. Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure proper fit, function, appearance, and compliance with prescription requirements prior to delivery.
  8. Operate, maintain, and perform routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, including 3D printers, curing units, milling machines, handpieces, and processing equipment, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  9. Accurately document equipment maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and service activities in maintenance logs or electronic systems to support regulatory compliance and operational continuity.
  10. Management of all warranties on all laboratory equipment and machinery.
  11. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment in compliance with infection control, OSHA, and material safety standards.
  12. Document case work thoroughly, including materials used, fabrication steps, and quality control checks.
  13. Management of any and all invoices and monthly statements for supplies or outside lab work.
  14. Proper storage and record keeping of all patient cases through the delivery process.
  15. Collaborate with dentists, dental staff, and laboratory personnel to resolve technical issues and support optimal patient outcomes.
  16. Maintain current knowledge of best practices within the profession.
  17. Maintain Certified Dental Technician (CDT) credentials, including required continuing education and adherence to standards established by the National Board for Certification.
  18. Provide technical guidance or mentorship to non-certified technicians or support staff, as applicable.
  19. Maintains proper use of equipment and proper inventory management of supplies.
  20. Assist in controlling the use of material and supplies necessary to perform job duties.
  21. Perform other duties, as assigned.
