Job description

DMBA (Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators) is a non-profit organization that administers benefits for companies who are owned or affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As a member of the IT Operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's operating systems (Windows and Linux) both on-premise as well as in AWS and Azure cloud and all related systems or software. You will analyze and resolve problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software ensuring scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. You will detect, diagnose, and report problems on server systems and proactively plan maintenance to ensure systems optimal performance by making recommendations for system upgrades and replacements as it relates to system life cycle. You will work with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, develop, and maintain systems that enhance our organization's efficiency, productivity, and overall performance. Your insights and technical expertise will help drive our technology initiatives, making a significant contribution to our continued success.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Education and Experience:
    • BS in Computer Science or similar degree, or equivalent technical certifications.
    • 1+ years of experience in server, desktop, technical support, and system administration in both on-premise and cloud environments.
    • High computer literacy, fluent with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy best practices and compliance frameworks.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in a cloud environment.
  • Technical Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, including servers, networks, and cloud platforms.
    • Experience maintaining systems for 24/7 availability.
    • Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and testing systems.
    • Experience with Powershell, Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
    • Expertise in Azure and AWS administration, including hybrid environments.
    • In-depth understanding of VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, and AWS services, with hands-on experience in VMWare VCenter, System Center Virtual Machine Manager, AWS Management Console, Azure Resource Manager, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Identity, and Azure Governance.
  • Problem-Solving and Learning:
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven ability to manage priorities and timelines effectively.
    • Aptitude for continuous learning and staying updated with technology trends.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Maintain system documentation, including build documents, system diagrams, and procedural documents.
    • Own problems through to completion, keeping system users and management informed.
    • Communicate effectively, including writing, speaking, editing, and proofreading.
    • Listen and communicate effectively with team members, partners, and clientele, building positive and collaborative relationships.
  • System Management and Maintenance:
    • Perform routine and complex system maintenance tasks, including hardware and software upgrades, system recovery, and performance tuning.
    • Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and productivity.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors.
    • Assist in managing AWS and Azure cloud services, including system administration and working with the infrastructure team on networking, storage, and compute resources.
    • Utilize monitoring and endpoint management systems to proactively maintain company systems and processes.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Collaborate closely with the IT Operations team, supporting personal and professional development.
    • Engage in building a high-trust, high-performance team culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Independently analyze and work to solve complex technical problems collaboratively across teams to solve problems and share knowledge.
    • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, multitasking and reassigning priorities as needed.
