POSITION SPECIFICS

The laboratory of Assistant Professor Lukas Muechler in the Department of Chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill one postdoctoral research position in the field of computational and theoretical chemistry.

Research will involve the modeling of molecular materials based on model and ab-initio calculations. Projects will include, but are not limited to, and the topological characterization of molecules and chemical reactions as well as development of structure-to-property rules and nonadiabatic dynamics for electrocyclization reactions.

The ideal postdoctoral candidate will have extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: computational chemistry, multi-reference quantum chemistry, nonadiabatic dynamics or metadynamics.

The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.
