Job description

The Graphic Design & Visual Communications Specialist will work in collaboration with the Manager Marketing Special Projects & Shared Services to develop strategic visual communications for Stratum shareholders and member audiences and portray a positive awareness of their brand and services. The Graphic Design & Visual Communications Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality and volume multimedia messaging and other digital marketing materials in adherence to current brand standards using industry-standard software programs.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Assists with the design, development, creation of content
  • Supports the development and publication of work through design of print, graphic or digital deliverables
  • Designs and creates computer-based, web-based or multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animation and/or content
  • Uses graphic design computer software and tools to compose original images for branding, marketing collateral, training material, etc.
  • Contributes to brainstorming and development of design content and collateral
  • Utilizes design principles, industry best practices and current trends using emerging technologies in new media
  • Solicits and analyzes feedback to increase effectiveness of design
  • Supports departmental staff in the following applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities (preferred by not required)
  • Create and develop basic multimedia content (audio/video) for internal and external communications, such as organization announcements, social media promotions, and corporate training materials.
  • Utilize simplified design tools like Canva to produce templated or simple animated video designs and social media visuals.
  • Support the visual planning process by contributing to simple scripts and storyboards for marketing projects.
  • Contribute to the execution of simple visual projects, including basic editing, importing, and exporting of short video lips.
  • Assist with coordinating basic logistics for content creation, such as organizing visual assets and sourcing necessary design elements.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism or related concentration is required.
  • Experience or training in graphic design is preferred.
  • Experience with post-production responsibilities such as digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms is required.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in marketing, journalism or related field is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with foundational audio concepts, such as small format mixers, compression, EQ, multi-track editing, and recording techniques.
  • Familiarity with design programs
  • Ability to coordinate production of printed designs with vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and simultaneous projects and work well in fast-paced environment with attention to detail are required.
  • Photography or videography skills are not required.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and MS Office is required.
