Position Overview

The Porter is a dual-role position which is essential in ensuring our kitchen operates smoothly by assisting in food preparation and maintaining cleanliness. 

Essential Functions

Prep Cook Duties:

  • Assist with the preparation of ingredients and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards. 
  • Ensure all food items are prepared in a timely manner to meet service needs. 
  • Maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards. 
  • Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and high-quality food service. 
  • Ensure all prep work meets established quality, taste, and presentation standards.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment using approved procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all food service areas, including kitchens, dishwashing stations, restaurants, and banquet areas.
  • Assist with cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment, and other assigned work areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Dispose of trash, recycling, and compost according to facility guidelines and applicable sanitation procedures.

Requirements

  • Up-to-date Clark County health card. 
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience as a line cook or prep cook.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. 
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive attitude. 

In addition, the ideal candidate will be or have:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred but not required. 
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant, resort, golf club, or banquet facility is highly preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform moderate physical work, may be required to lift 100lbs. occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to five hours without sitting. 

Work Environment

This position operates in a restaurant setting.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud.  The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls, and burns.  Frequent hand washing is required.
