Job Purpose:
- The SSC Writing Coach at Brazosport College is responsible for providing part-time support to students in developing their writing skills. This role involves guiding students through various stages of the writing process, offering constructive feedback, and fostering an environment that encourages learning and improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in understanding and applying writing techniques across different genres and formats.
- Provide individualized feedback and guidance to students to enhance their writing abilities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify student needs and tailor writing support accordingly.
- Conduct workshops and seminars focused on specific writing skills and strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of writing standards and practices to ensure students receive current and relevant advice.
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking and self-editing skills.
- Track student progress and provide reports to faculty on student development and areas for improvement.
- Foster a supportive environment that respects diverse perspectives and learning styles.
Required Education:
