EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Temporary, Adjunct
PRIMARY DUTY:
The School of Language, Literature and Writing at Northwest Missouri State University is seeking candidates to serve as adjunct faculty teaching general education courses. Courses may be offered online and/or on campus during the fall, spring and summer terms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Teach general education courses.
  • Interact with students to support learning and student success.
  • Provide substantive and timely feedback on assignments.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and respond to student messages in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate course records and submit grades and other required documentation by established deadlines.
  • Follow university, departmental, and course policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Earned master's degree in English, writing, composition, rhetoric or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Experience: Demonstrated successful experience teaching writing and/or literature at the college level.
Skills: Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to support students from varied backgrounds and levels of academic preparation. Ability to provide clear, substantive and timely feedback on student work. Ability to use instructional technology and a learning management system effectively.

Typical university classroom, office, and online instructional environments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: n/a

Laptop computer and other technology or instructional equipment commonly used in classrooms, and online learning environments.
