Job Description

The Director of Risk Management is responsible for leading and overseeing the company's operational risk management program. This role is accountable for identifying, assessing, and managing operational risks affecting the company's employees, patients, customers, assets, operations, and reputation. The Director of Risk Management will oversee key risk areas including workers' compensation, general liability, premises liability, professional liability, auto liability, property claims, health and safety, insurance management, security programs, and crisis response. This role reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel and regularly interfaces with executive leadership, operational leaders, external brokers, insurers, and outside counsel.

  • Lead and manage the companyโ€™s operational risk management function across retail stores, healthcare/clinical locations, distribution centers, and corporate operations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies designed to reduce financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational exposure.
  • Oversee workersโ€™ compensation, general liability, premises liability, professional liability, auto liability, property and casualty claims, workplace safety, and security risks.
  • Establish risk management standards, policies, procedures, and governance processes.
  • Analyze incident trends, claims data, and operational metrics to identify systemic risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner with Operations and HR to improve injury prevention, return-to-work, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing claims management strategies, coverage analysis, and policy compliance.
  • Support crisis management, business continuity, and emergency response planning activities.
  • Develop reporting dashboards and risk metrics that support decision-making through data-driven analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Drive a culture of risk awareness and accountability across the organization.
QualificationsWork Experience
  • 9+ years of progressive risk management experience in a multi-state organization. (Required)
  • Experience supporting
  • Multi-Unit Retail, Restaurant & Food Service, or Multi-Site Healthcare Organizations
  • (Required)
  • Experience with public company governance and compliance environments. (Preferred)
  • Corporate security experience (Prefered)
  • Experience preparing executive-level and board-level risk reporting. (Required)
Education
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. (Required)
Licenses, Certifications, Professional Affiliations
  • ARM, CPCU, CRM, CPHRM, CRCM, CIA, or CCEP (Preferred)
Additional Skills
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management principles. (Required)
  • Understanding of healthcare and retail operational risks and regulatory frameworks. (Required)
