Job description

Help Protect a Mission That Changes Lives.

Legal expertise can minimize risk. Great legal leadership can create opportunity.

At Mosaic, we're driven by one purpose: relentlessly pursuing opportunities that empower people. Every day, we support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living meaningful lives within their communities and we're looking for an experienced healthcare attorney to help us protect and advance that mission.

This is more than an in house legal role.

As our Senior Counsel / Associate General Counsel, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, partnering across Legal, Compliance, Risk, External Affairs, and Operations to navigate complex healthcare regulations, strengthen organizational governance, and enable strategic decision making across a multi-state organization.

If you're energized by solving complex problems, influencing organizational strategy, and making a meaningful impact through your legal expertise, we'd love to meet you.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

Partner directly with our Chief Legal Officer and executive leadership

Influence strategy across a large, multi-state healthcare organization

Work on meaningful legal matters that directly support people and communities

Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Government Relations

Join a mission-driven organization where your work truly matters

What You'll Do In This Role

No two days look exactly alike and that's part of what makes this role exciting.

You'll:

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor supporting day-to-day operational decisions.
  • Partner closely with Compliance and Risk on regulatory matters, Medicaid program integrity, and managed care organization (MCO) inquiries.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of healthcare agreements, vendor contracts, leases, and operational contracts.
  • Oversee litigation and coordinate with outside counsel, insurance carriers, and risk management.
  • Support corporate governance, including board resolutions, annual filings, and governance documentation.
  • Partner with External Affairs to analyze proposed legislation and assess organizational impact.
  • Support legal due diligence for strategic initiatives and transactions.
  • Present legal guidance and emerging regulatory issues to senior leaders across the organization.
About Mosaic

At Mosaic, our mission is simple but powerful:

Relentlessly pursuing opportunities that empower people.

Every role contributes to creating meaningful lives in caring communities where every individual has a voice, belongs, and is empowered to reach their full potential. Our values of Belonging, Connection, Faithfulness, and Grit guide everything we do.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you're looking for a career where your legal expertise will influence strategy, support innovation, and help strengthen a mission-driven organization, we encourage you to apply.

Join Mosaic. Protect what matters. Empower what's possible.

We're looking for someone who combines strong legal expertise with exceptional business judgment and a collaborative leadership style.

You'll be successful if you have:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active State Bar membership in good standing (and, if not licensed in Nebraska, ability to become admitted in Nebraska or register as in-house counsel)
  • Seven or more years of healthcare legal experience
  • Experience supporting healthcare operations, ideally within a multi-state provider organization
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, Medicaid, fraud and abuse regulations, and program integrity
  • Experience negotiating healthcare contracts and advising business leaders
  • The ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to leadership and partnership
Who Thrives Here
  • You enjoy building relationships.
  • You believe legal teams should enable smart decisions; not simply identify risk.
  • You communicate clearly, think strategically, and approach challenges with curiosity and sound judgment.
  • Most importantly, you believe your legal career can be about more than practicing law it can be about improving lives.
