Babbitting Service, Inc (BSI) is a leader in the manufacture, design and repair of Hydrodynamic Fluid Film Bearings (Babbitt Bearings) and related parts since 1961. BSI services OEM's, aftermarket, and end users across the globe. We are seeking to hire a CNC Mill Set-up/ Operator, with a minimum of 3+years' experience, to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a CNC Mill. BSI is a job shop, prototype and R&D manufacturing facility and parts can range from simple to highly complex with low quantity requirements varying from 1 or 2, to 20 or more per lot. This type of manufacturing requires quick set-ups, precision execution, and attention to detail for success.

CNC Mill Machinist Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and run Haas CNC mills.
  • Adjust program as needed for optimum performance.
  • Understand and select correct tooling.
  • Produce parts within required tolerances and specifications.
  • Hold tight tolerance up to +/-.0001".  
  • Ensure the CNC Machine operates at the highest level of productivity      and quality appropriate to the assigned job.
  • Use overhead crane system to load and unload heavy parts.
  • Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position in magazine as      needed to machine parts.
  • Measure work pieces for conformance to specification using measuring      instruments such as but not limited to micrometers, calipers, dial      indicators and gages.
  • Adjust machine speeds and feeds and change cutters to machine parts efficiently.
  • Responsible for keeping work area safe, clean and organized.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years' experience setting up CNC mill machines preferably Haas.
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints and have a clear understanding of geometric tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Knowledge of Renishaw probing system preferred but not required.
  • Must have basic math skills.Â
