Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Liability Complex Claim Director to lead an MGA claims organization. This role combines high-level claims responsibilities with hands-on litigation management across a portfolio of complex, high-exposure liability claims.
The selected candidate will also supervise a team of claims professionals while maintaining direct involvement in complex files.
The position is best suited for a seasoned claims or legal professional with a litigation background who is ready to move into a strategic role overseeing claim outcomes, litigation direction, and resolution strategy.
Key Responsibilities

  • Direct handling of a portfolio of complex, litigated liability claims
  • Develop and execute litigation and resolution strategy across high-exposure matters
  • Manage defense counsel, experts, and litigation vendors
  • Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement value; establish and maintain reserves
  • Lead negotiations, mediations, and settlement strategy
  • Ensure consistent execution of claim handling standards across assigned caseload
  • Prepare reporting and recommendations to leadership on significant exposures
  • Contribute to litigation strategy development across the broader portfolio
  • Support MGA production team
  • Some travel required (5%)
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
·         10+ years of experience in managing complex high-exposure, litigated GL claims. 
  • Strong background in General Liability litigation 
  • Experience managing outside counsel and litigation strategies through resolution or trial
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Preferred Experience

  • Construction and premises liability claims experience
  • New York construction litigation / Labor Law exposure
  • Experience working with Lloyd’s London markets
  • Experience supporting underwriting departments 
Work Structure

  • This is a high-output litigation role with an expected annual productivity benchmark
  • The role blends direct complex claims handling with claims team management and program oversight responsibilities in a structured MGA environment
Compensation

  • $125,000 – 175,000 depending on experience
  • Annual performance bonus
