Senior Business Development Strategy, Competitive Assessment Representative

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Development Strategy, Competitive Assessment Representative (Level 4 or 5) to join the Competitive Assessment team in El Segundo, CA, Long Beach, CA, Seal Beach, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Arlington, VA, Mesa, AZ, Ridley Park, PA, Berkeley, MO, Everett, WA, Seattle, WA, or Tukwila, WA.

This position will report to the Campaign and Competitive Analysis team within the BDS Business Development and Strategy (BD&S) organization. The Campaign and Competitive Analysis team engages with campaigns across BDS and BGS to support the pursuit and capture of new business opportunities. The Campaign and Competitive Analysis team is an agile, cross-disciplinary team that combines knowledge across technical, financial, and business development domains with an understanding of domestic and international customers, to drive independent competitive assessments, inform capture strategies, and recommend affordability and price-to-win ranges for specific campaigns.

Candidates interested in this position should have an overall understanding of the current defense and military market, competitors, and financials. They must also be a dynamic self-starter with a level of comfort in managing ambiguity and analytic uncertainty.

Strong communication and organizational skills are critical to success in this position, along with the ability to build strong relationships, collaborate in a cross-functional environment, and utilize problem-solving skills to proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Competitive assessment analysis including techniques to lead technical teams to develop competitor strategies, trade-offs between different design approaches, innovative thinking of potential new and different solutions.
  • Conducting primary/secondary research to drive insights on technical and business aspects of competitor approaches to specific domestic and international campaigns
  • Contributing to all phases of competitive assessment activities by executing business capture techniques and processes, which include facilitating discussions with colleagues across BDS functions
  • Collaborating with campaign teams in the development of differentiating capture strategies
  • Understanding key cost drivers in design and/or offer approaches to develop price to win analysis
  • Reviewing domestic and international customer acquisition-related documents including Requests for Information (RFI's) and Request for Proposals (RFP's)
  • Ability to navigate analytic uncertainty while maintaining objectivity and transparency

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working on a response to a request for proposals (RFP) and contract support
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally (engineering, program management, modification team, and/or finance) and across multiple business units (BDS, BGS, BAO, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing and presenting executive level briefings
  • Knowledge of the domestic/international government acquisition process
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in a finance related position such as Financial Operations, Cost Management, Accounting, Estimating, Financial Planning, Contracts or Procurement Financial Analysis (PFA)
  • 5+ years of experience working on a response to a request for proposals (RFP) and contract support
  • Experience with competitive acquisitions
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Active Secret Clearance or higher is preferred
  • Level 4 & 5: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Level 4:

Tier 1: $129,200 - $174,800

Tier 2: $120,700 - $163,300

Level 5:

Tier 1: $164,050 - $221,950

Tier 2: $153,000 - $207,000
