Job description

Join the Compass family-an established mental health provider in the Hampton Roads community for almost 20 years. The Therapeutic Mentoring Program at Compass Behavioral Group provides excellent training, experience, and support to bolster your career in the mental health field.

Compass seeks to grow the network of mental health providers in VA by preparing employees to gain relevant and meaningful experience in the field, build professional networks, and gain an understanding of diverse client and family challenges as well as systems of care in our community.

The Therapeutic Mentor assists our young clients, who exhibit behavioral challenges, develop and practice positive communication, anger management, and conflict resolution skills in the home and community-based setting. The position allows for flexibility with scheduling, excellent benefits, and many opportunities for advancement.

Duties:

  • Teaching positive communication skills, practice anger management skills and practice conflict resolution skills.
  • Identifying and helping clients engage in positive community activities (examples: volunteerism, part-time employment, recreational sports, etc.).
  • Psychoeducation on wellness topics including nutrition, hygiene and physical activity.
  • Service coordination with medical professionals, treatment providers and other service professionals involved with their clients (i.e. court personnel, psychiatrists, or other community representatives) to ensure continuity of care.

Additional Requirements:
