Job description

Job Summary
Oversees residential and community nursing, both clinically and administratively, for the following divisions: Community Services/Adult Community Clinical Services (at Keenan House North Residential Recovery Services/Co-Occurring Enhanced, or RRS/COE, Program). Work as part of the management team to support individuals in developing skills to be used on journey of recovery and personal growth with hope and optimism.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Adheres to all applicable state and federal regulations; ensures compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, code of conduct, and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Oversees and manages nursing care for the Community Services Division and supervises ACCS nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Develop training schedules and orientation checklists for new hires
  • Monitors work performance, provides regularly scheduled supervision and completes annual evaluations
  • Reviews nursing coverage and service lists to ensure that nursing, medical and other clinical needs of persons served are being met
  • Manages schedules and time off requests for ACCS staff and (for the Community Services division) and the COE Registered Nurse (for Adult and Family Services division)
  • Collaborates with management and Human Resources to manage interviewing and hiring new staff and other staffing-related issues
  • Attends scheduled meetings
  • Collaborates closely with Medical Director for each division to ensure quality medical service
  • Facilitates compliance with nursing aspects of Community Services/Acute Care Residential and the Adult Family RRS/COE Program regarding contract responsibilities (e.g., utilization review, outcome measures, documentation, medication administration, and enrollment)
  • Monitors nursing productivity to ensure contract compliance
  • Completes and submits Department of Mental Health and/or other agency required reports timely (e.g., investigations, outcome measures, time studies, medication audits and occurrence reports, internal incident reports, external reports, etc.).
  • Leads, plans and /or participates in training for the Medication Administration Program (MAP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid, COVID-19, Person Centered Planning, Shared Decision Making, Trauma Informed Care, various medical issues or other trainings as directed by management
  • Collaborates and acts as a liaison with the Behavioral Health Community Partner Program (BHCP), internal and external substance abuse teams, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACO's)
  • Oversees (MAP) compliance in ACCS and the Acute Care division.
  • Establishes and monitors standardized medication observation process in the Adult and Family Services division (RRS/COE Program)

Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS level Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified or the ability to obtain within the first 5 months of employment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, with experience preferably in psychiatric nursing.
  • Prior community mental health experience strongly preferred along with residential, and substance use disorder treatment services.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical records.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of normal personality, growth, and development.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in the use of psychotropic medications.
  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing software.
