Introduction RIDE THE TIDE IN OCEANSIDE LIBRARY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM Volunteer The City's Volunteer program is designed to coordinate and manage citywide volunteer efforts which support existing City services provided to the community. The program addresses community service needs, while placing special emphasis on the City's priorities. The City's volunteer program will utilize the skills and talents of volunteers in assisting staff as a team.

Volunteers will be able to supplement existing services, and at the same time encourage civic pride and community involvement by helping their community. Examples of Duties These are unpaid volunteer opportunities. No compensation or benefits are received.

Opportunities The Oceanside Public Library offers a wide range of services to our community. For information on the library volunteer programs please visit the link here: Library Volunteer Opportunities Under the Age of 18. No problem, we have opportunities within our Teen Partners program for teens between the ages of 14-18.

Teen Partners is a great way for teens to gain work experience, earn community service credits, or just help out as needed in library programs. Minimum Qualifications Volunteer Requirements Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. The city will not accept court ordered volunteer services.

Adult volunteer positions require a minimum of 6 months commitment. Working Conditions and Selection Process Volunteer Application Process All potential volunteers are to complete a Volunteer Application. Applications must be submitted online.

Paper applications will no longer be accepted. Screening Candidates All potential volunteers must go through the City's screening process to ensure their potential suitability for the volunteer position. Each potential volunteer will have an interview with the department in which he or she is considering on an as needed basis.

Volunteer positions will require additional methods of screening, such as fingerprinting and background checks. Volunteers represent the City of Oceanside and must abide by City policy regarding a drug-free and harassment-free work environment.
