Job Description:

The Community Paramedic evaluates and treats patients, usually in their own home based on a previous diagnosis and under the direction of advanced providers, offering clinical expertise and education within their specialty and areas of study. They collaborate with Tele Hospitalists, physicians, APPs, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and patient placement teams to manage care of patients in their home environment and for transfers. The Community Paramedic is expected to be an extension of Intermountain's Brick and Mortar services into the patients home, treating the patient for potentially advanced or complicated conditions in a place where they are most comfortable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successful completion of Paramedic course

• Must obtain Paramedic license in state of operation within 120 days

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

• Current valid driver license in good standing

• Three years ofclinical careexperience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) orPre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)Certification

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Certification

• Paramedic National Registry Certification

• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification(must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification(must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)

• Attendance License (Before start of employment)

Physical Requirements

• All EMS medical crew members may be subject to certain work conditions while functioning in the full capacity of their position. These work conditions include, but are not limited to: performance of essential job responsibilities in a moving, ground ambulance, hospital as well as the potential to do so in an outdoor environment (inclement weather, extremes of temperature, accident scenes, steep terrain, back country, etc.), exposure to noise, vibration, and dehydrating environment of a ground ambulance, exposure to patients with known or unknown infectious disease in an enclosed space.
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$24.30 - $37.52
