Within the context of a complex health care system and in accordance with the policies, values and guidelines of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the Maintenance Worker 5 performs trades duties approaching the journeyman level in a variety of trades' areas such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding. Performs maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment and performs mechanical and electrical repairs to equipment and systems. Participates on the Rapid Response Team and as a member of the Maintenance team, he/she will assist other team members in their duties to ensure a timely and complete delivery of service to our clients. Persons in this role must be prepared to act in various capacities, supporting maintenance in general terms. In this role he/she will be required to have excellent skills as a customer service advocate, accelerating the resolution of customer concerns. This position may require inter-site work assignments, and working in a support role to trades personnel.This work is framed within VCH's commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 10, plus four (4) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
