Snapshot of the Role:

MasterClass is looking for a Community Manager to own the community experience for our cohort-based programs, with an initial focus on MasterClass Executive, our 12-week business education program for accomplished professionals. You'll create an engaging, high-touch experience that helps each cohort build meaningful connections-from the moment learners join through alumni life.

As cohort-based programming expands across MasterClass Executive, Certificates, and other products, you'll help build the strategy and operational foundation for a centralized Community function. This is a hands-on role where you'll both shape the strategy and serve as the daily voice of the community.

What You Will Do:
  • Own the community experience for MasterClass Executive and Certificates cohorts end to end, from onboarding and daily engagement through alumni programming.
  • Set the community strategy and create the rituals, programming, and connections that turn each cohort into an engaged network.
  • Serve as the daily voice of the community, facilitating conversations, answering questions, connecting learners, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Manage multiple cohorts simultaneously while monitoring engagement, sentiment, and retention and proactively re-engaging learners who may be falling off.
  • Build and manage community platforms, channels, playbooks, templates, automations, and AI-enabled workflows that allow the program to scale.
  • Identify and support learner leaders, mentors, and alumni advocates who can help strengthen and grow the community.
  • Partner closely with Events on weekly live sessions and in-person experiences, driving attendance and keeping engagement going after each event.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, Program, and Support to turn learner feedback and community insights into improvements across the experience.
About You (Requirements):
  • 6+ years of experience in community management, learner or member experience, customer engagement, or a related field, including direct ownership of a community program.
  • Proven experience building and growing an engaged online community, ideally from an early or ambiguous starting point.
  • Exceptional written communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage a sophisticated professional or executive audience.
  • Hands-on experience with community platforms such as Circle, Slack, Discord, Discourse, or Mighty Networks.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cohorts, programs, and community moments simultaneously.
  • Comfortable using engagement and retention data to test ideas, identify opportunities, and continuously improve the community experience.
  • Curious and adaptable when it comes to emerging technology, including AI-enabled community workflows.
  • Willing to travel for in-person experiences and flex working hours around live programming and key cohort milestones. This role is open to applicants based in the following locations: AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, TN, TX, UT, WA or Ontario and British Columbia, Canada.

At MasterClass, we believe we put our best work forward when our employees bring together ideas that are diverse in thought. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
