Program Operations Specialist

Department: Program

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote in New Hampshire (with travel statewide)

The Program Operations Specialist is a backend, operations‑focused position that helps ensure Special Olympics New Hampshire programs and competitions run smoothly and successfully.

This role is not about running competitions on site — it’s about managing the information, systems, and processes that make competitions work. The Program Operations Specialist is responsible for tracking and maintaining accurate program data, registrations, compliance requirements, and competition paperwork so that athletes are eligible, teams are properly prepared, and staff and volunteers have the information they need to make informed decisions.

When this role is done well, competitions run smoothly, volunteers are supported, and the rest of the program department can focus on delivering high‑quality experiences for athletes.

What You’ll Do

· Manage and track athlete, volunteer, and program data across SONH programs

· Handle registration details and required paperwork for sports competitions

· Prepare and manage athlete performance data used for equitable divisioning, ensuring athletes are grouped fairly so competition is meaningful and successful

· Track compliance requirements for athletes and Local Program Volunteers (LPVs)

· Maintain program and participation data for Unified Champion Schools programs

· Analyze and report on data to support program planning and team success

· Build strong working relationships with Local Programs across New Hampshire to gather required information and support on‑time completion of registrations and paperwork

· Spend the majority of time working independently at a computer managing data, systems, and reports

· Attend competitions throughout the year as needed, working alongside volunteers to ensure paperwork is complete, data is accurately entered, and to troubleshoot data or registration issues in real time

Who You Are· Someone with an interest in sports and a working understanding of how competitions function· An organized and detail‑oriented person who enjoys backend work and takes pride in accuracy· Someone comfortable spending much of the day working on a computer· A clear communicator who can follow up with Local Programs to gather required information· A person who understands that strong data and preparation directly contribute to successful games and teams· Someone who is process‑driven, but flexible when programs or timelines shift

What You Bring

· Comfort working with databases, registration systems, and Microsoft Excel

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to track deadlines and manage multiple priorities at once

· Confidence working independently while staying connected to a team

· Willingness to travel statewide and work evenings/weekends around competitions

· Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion

· A steady, solutions‑oriented approach in a fast‑paced environment
