Our established Community Development group is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support development projects for various private and public clients. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of preliminary engineering, final design and construction drawings, construction support, and close-out services for development projects. Our team supports a diverse range of public clients and project types, offering motivated team members opportunities to lead new and meaningful project pursuits. Your Opportunity
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in development projects and will support the Community Development Leaders as well as project managers from other Stantec disciplines across the western U.S. As an Intermediate Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing technical design solutions, including defining project scope, schedule, and budgets; supporting quality management processes; and preparing technical studies and construction documents. You will work with clients and stakeholders to effectively manage engineering tasks and deliverables, with a strong emphasis on quality, communication, and collaboration.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Community Development Intermediate Civil Engineer will collaborate closely with the Community Development team to prepare engineering deliverables such as design drawings, quantity calculations and cost estimates, construction specifications, engineering studies and reports to industry and regulatory agency standards. This role will also support the preparation of documentation required for permit applications to regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Support the Senior Civil Engineers and Team Leaders preparing grading, drainage, wet utility, roadway/highway improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
  • Prepare and revise documentation for projects from feasibility analysis to construction close out.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Coordinate with design teams, subconsultants and other project partners to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget.
  • Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager as needed.
  • Collect and analyse data and perform calculations that support civil system design decisions and development process.
  • Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
  • Utilize three-dimensional technologies and modeling software in development, design and analysis of civil systems.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive and collective experience, including task management, project and construction engineering including Community Development experience,
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to the delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Comprehensive technical understanding of various phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods.
  • Understanding of project scoping, identification of deliverables, tasks, scheduling, resources and levels of effort, and project budgeting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Experience with technical guidelines, codes and construction standards of key public authorities,
  • Experience with public works transportation and site development projects.
  • Knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the functionality of relevant design software, including AutoCAD, Civil3D and Auto-Turn, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in California

• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$107,300.00 - $155,500.00 Annually
