Job Description
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.
Student worker will assist the instructor with pulling food and staples needed for the lab portion of the course. The courses will include Introduction to Baking, Thursday evenings, and Introduction to Foods, Tuesday evenings.
Student worker will assist in providing program related general support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students during class/lab activities. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Help pull all food and dry goods needed for the lab portion of the courses
  • Assist in ensuring all food items are put away properly after use
  • Assist students in clean up and provide guidance in putting away the equipment and utensils properly
  • Help ensure cutting boards are dry before putting away
  • Assist in making sanitizer and set up 3 hole sinks in dish room
  • Help make sure soap and Sani- tabs are put away properly
  • Assist in organizing the walk-in and freezer before leaving
  • Help ensure equipment is put away in its proper place
  • Other tasks that may be assigned by the instructor

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Students must have a Federal Work Study award letter for the current academic year
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Students cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units
  • Students must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA
  • Students must have a current TB
  • Ability to follow directions to carry out the duties as assigned
  • Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the program and/or have completed some courses in the specific program or related field
  • Student must have a food handler's card or Serve Safe Certificate

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
