Description:

The Communications Coordinator supports the communication strategy of Indian Rocks Church by coordinating content, managing communication channels, and ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with the mission, vision, values, and brand. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, this role serves as a key connector between ministry teams, creative teams, and the congregation—helping turn ministry priorities into effective communication across email, website, print, digital, and in-person environments.


Communication & Content Coordination:

  • Coordinate weekly and ongoing communication needs across Indian Rocks Church. Gather information from ministry leaders and translate it into clear, audience-focused messaging.
  • Develop and schedule content for email, website, print, announcements, and other channels while maintaining communication calendars.

Digital & Print Communications:

  • Coordinate updates to the church website, digital platforms, newsletters, and email campaigns.
  • Create, format, and prepare digital and print communication materials, ensuring information across platforms remains accurate, current, and consistent.

Project & Ministry Coordination:

  • Serve as a primary communications point of contact for assigned ministries and departments. Coordinate communication timelines for events, campaigns, sermon series, and church-wide initiatives.
  • Collect necessary content assets (copy, graphics, photography), build project briefs, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and keep timelines moving forward on schedule.

Creative Production & Brand Control:

  • Design communication materials for print and digital platforms using Adobe Creative Suite within established brand guidelines.
  • Proofread copy for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and tone.
  • Perform quality control reviews prior to publication and maintain organized creative asset libraries.
Requirements:

Experience and Education: Bachelor's degree in communications or a similar field and 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, ministry communications, or a related field (church/nonprofit experience preferred).


Must be proficient in and able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to create professional-quality graphic and communication materials.
  • Manage multiple communication projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Utilize digital/print communication platforms, website content management systems, and email marketing platforms effectively.
  • Receive creative direction and feedback constructively while maintaining high standards of design quality and integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a patient, service-oriented approach to answering employee questions.
  • Proven ability to interface effectively with a diverse team of pastoral staff including Pastors, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, operating support personnel, church members, and the community at large.
  • Cultivate an ongoing cooperative relationship between the church, school, membership, and community.
  • Responsible to perform the other duties as assigned and approved by supervising personnel to include, but not limited to: Lead Pastor, Church Administrator, Assistant Director of HR, or Personnel Committee.

  • Must give testimony and evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sense the call of God to a serving ministry.
  • Demonstrate a consistent Christian lifestyle as referenced by the; the Mission, Statement of Faith, and Leadership Guidelines of Indian Rocks
  • Must be an active member of Indian Rocks as defined by regular attendance in worship services, regular attendance/involvement in an Indian Rocks Connection Group or Small Group, commitment to systematic stewardship, and faithful in tithing.
