Job description

Energy Transfer Partners is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 62,500 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Performs all duties and responsibilities related to the operation and maintenance of Field Communications equipment and systems. Primarily Alcatel microwave, MAS-RF SCADA systems, WAN / LAN, Power Systems and Radio Tower Facilities. VSAT services, Cellular Data services, mobile radio services.Maintain operational compliance within applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
• Detailed knowledge and experience in a wide range of Communications related equipment and system operation, maintenance, testing, analysis and documentation to comply with Company & Federal Regulations - DOT, OSHA, FCC, FAA, NEC and Environmental requirements.
• Familiar in the applicable process relative to installation, maintenance, and diagnostic of equipment and systems. The "well rounded" candidate should have experience in the following categories:
o RF Radio services consisting of Analog and Digital communications, Data & Voice systems.
o Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN) equipment and systems.
o Telephone systems including VOIP PBX equipment, T1 lease lines & POTS lines.
o Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition "SCADA" (PLC) (RTU) equipment and related systems.
o Power Systems including AC Generation and DC battery systems
o Communications Towers and Facilities maintenance, operations and construction.
o Maintenance & diagnosis of Microwave Radio Systems
• Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization and provides technical training as needed, in support of operational and emergency related situations and matters.
• Maintains an organized and effective filing system of all records pertaining to maintenance, calibration, testing and repair of equipment and systems to meet company and regulatory compliance
• Support of related Capital and Operations & maintenance projects. Responsible for planning work, directing contractors and preparing budget information consistent with the annual budgeting process. Prepares / reviews / updates / implements / actively supports project plans, installation schedules, as-built drawings and system modifications.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-5 years' relevant work experience & training as a technician or additional equivalent experience necessary to perform required task of technical support on an independent basis
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Alternative educational experience including but not limited to self-study course work or components of a non-technical degree
• Strong computer skills and proficiency utilizing MS Office Suites (Word, Access, Excel & Visio).
• Proficiency in the use of hand tools, especially pertaining to electrical wiring & components at various voltage levels.
• Customer Service oriented and must possess excellent verbal & written communications skills including an ability to deal effectively with internal/external customers, peers and management.
• The ability to work in hazardous conditions, adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting.
• Subject to 24-hour call out 7 days per week and possible extended work days.
• Maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence including a clean driving and safety record.
Preferred Skills or Experience:
• Associate's Degree in a related technical field preferred (or additional equivalent experience).
• FCC License desired, not required.
