We are looking to hire a PROJECT MANAGER reporting to our Pittsburgh, PA office.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of project performance, including safety, scheduling, budgeting, team leadership, client coordination, and financial outcomes.
The Project Manager will serve as a key operational leader, driving a strong safety culture, ensuring quality execution, managing risks and change processes, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders. This position requires a proactive professional who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on project management to deliver predictable, profitable, and high-quality results.
In addition to managing active projects, the Project Manager will support operational improvements, mentor team members, and contribute to business development efforts that support Sargent Electric's continued growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Champion Safety Culture. Set the standard by modeling "best in class" safety practices. Partner with enterprise safety leadership and field teams to minimize risks and continuously improve jobsite safety performance.
  • Project Management and Execution. Oversee the overall successful management of assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, resource and workforce allocation, and client satisfaction, ensuring consistent, predictable project outcomes.
  • Team Leadership. Directly supervise assigned staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Schedule and Cost Management. Collaborate with senior project leadership in the development, monitoring, and updating of project schedules, budgets, and job cost reports to ensure alignment with financial and operational targets.
  • Construction Oversight. Review and approve key construction methods, practices, and field operations to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Change and Risk Management. Manage change orders, RFIs, delays, and project risks, implementing mitigation strategies to protect company interests and maximize profitability.
  • Financial Oversight. Monitor actual versus budgeted costs, approve invoices, manage A/P and A/R, and support forecasting, monthly reporting, and annual budget preparation.
  • Procurement and Resource Coordination. Oversee subcontract, purchase order, and equipment management, ensuring timely and efficient use of company-owned and rented resources.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication. Serve as the point of contact of assigned scopes to clients, engineers, and architects, ensuring transparent, responsive, and professional communication.
  • Project Closeout. Manage all project closeout procedures, including verification of completed work, financial reconciliation, and compliance with contractual and company requirements.
  • Process Compliance. Ensure proper completion and timely submission of company forms, reports, logs, and documentation related to shop drawings, RFIs, field changes, and change orders.
  • Operational Support. Provide timely decisions and direction to maintain project profitability, support cross-functional coordination, and resolve issues impacting project delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement. Contribute to the development and refinement of operational procedures, the Operations Manual, and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Business Development Support. Assist with bidding, proposal development, and other business development activities as needed to support company growth objectives.
  • Employee Development and Engagement. Support company training initiatives, mentor project teams, and foster a collaborative environment that encourages learning, feedback, and professional growth.
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance. Establish, implement, and enforce quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and company requirements, while driving consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across all phases of project execution.
  • Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Executive Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient in the use of Accubid Anywhere, Vista, Bluebeam, Project Site, Procore, Plangrid, Building Connected, Trimble Materials, Navisworks, and other related construction applications
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience within the electrical construction industry, with a proven
    track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related discipline; equivalent consideration will be given to candidates with five (5) or more years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent written communication skills. Proficient with computers, particularly Microsoft Office
    applications, including the ability to type.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals.
  • Works efficiently under tight timeframes, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player.
  • Understands the importance of being able to multi-task.
