Job description

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Unified Communications Engineer, to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team in Arlington, VA. We are seeking a proactive candidate who will not shy away from writing a test plan or reading through vendor's technical documents to solve a problem and write a resolution report.
The Senior Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for but not limited to:
  • Ensure the operational health, availability, and security of enterprise voice and collaboration systems within a complex network architecture.
  • Provide engineering support for the design, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis of firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), unified communications platforms, and security controls and policies
  • Develop and maintain system specifications, architecture designs, integration plans, test plans, and all required technical documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA) requirements and ensure all service performance indicators are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborate with agency Network Engineers and Network Operations personnel to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives and modernization efforts.
  • Serve as Tier IV Premier Support liaison for complex issues requiring specialized vendor expertise.
  • Coordinate with vendors and premier support providers to ensure timely resolution of escalated technical issues.
  • Escalate critical incidents to vendor engineering teams and monitor issue resolution through completion.
  • Work closely with Tier III engineering support teams to resolve enterprise-level communications and networking issues.

Qualifications
Required:
  • An active/current Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 16 years of related experience, or a master's degree and 14 years of experience. 4 years of additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • An active Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Collaboration certification.
  • Self-driven and resourceful in achieving goals independently as well as in cooperation with others.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
  • The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move forward.

Desired:
  • Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of CONOPS and procedural documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with the ITIL library in support of incident and change management.
  • Experience with a maintenance ticketing system to manage incidents and problems.
  • Knowledge of Solarwinds, Splunk, and Variphy monitoring systems.
  • Previous experience supporting a government and/or Department of Defense customer.

Target Salary Range
$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
