About the Role:

Dow Jones is on a mission to provide the world's most trusted journalism, data and analysis to help people make decisions. As part of the company's global communications team, the Corporate Communications Associate plays a key role in delivering a strategic, comprehensive communications playbook that leverages executive voices and key milestones to support the Dow Jones narrative and drive brand authority. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, this role is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day execution of external communication strategies that support the entire Dow Jones ecosystem across business lines including News, Energy, Risk, Enterprise and Consumer, while gaining valuable hands-on experience and a front-row seat to all aspects of the profession.

The ideal candidate will possess prior industry internship experience and a strong desire to contribute to a team that is high-performing, creative, collaborative, curious and kind. They should be eager to kickstart their career with a hands-on approach, working across various business areas and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional organizational skills, the ability to pivot quickly, a sharp attention to detail and a genuine passion for daily learning are essential.

You Will:

  • Be based in the New York City office, on a hybrid working schedule (3 days a week), supporting the global corporate communications team

  • Monitor and record all external media placements, create media coverage reports and track key metrics associated with campaigns

  • Generate and maintain media lists and databases

  • Support the team in drafting press materials (press releases, media alerts, pitch notes, briefing docs, etc.)

  • Contribute to the corporate social media strategy development, helping to source updates from across the team, create and edit content for posts and track/measure engagement

  • Research and draft company and executive award submissions

  • Research new media outlets that allow Dow Jones to expand its media relations approach

  • Ideate, create and edit content for the Dow Jones Press Hub to ensure the content stays fresh and relevant, keeping a multiplatform storytelling approach in mind

  • Help keep the team accountable for work needed across the business, including updating weekly reports to executives

  • Flag industry news to the team to inspire ideas and help with timely pitching opportunities

  • Assist with pitching day-to-day stories across the business

  • Support on multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, journalism or equivalent related field

  • 0-2 years of professional experience, but ideally a demonstrated interest in the profession, perhaps from interviews, student groups, etc.

  • Internship in public relations or communications strongly preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Equally strong organizational skills and a very high attention to detail

  • Experience working with video editing and design programs to create digital assets

  • Interest in working at a global company and the media industry

  • An ability to multitask, juggling multiple responsibilities across different projects, teams and timelines

  • A bias towards action and a curiosity to learn, innovate and challenge the status quo (when appropriate)

  • Strong judgment and discretion with sensitive information
