Job description

Communication Partner

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Projects and Client Support, the Communication Partner will support the communication needs of the university’s colleges and divisions. The role focuses on increasing awareness and engagement of students, employees, alumni, donors and other key audiences in the events, activities and initiatives of colleges and divisions. The partner works directly with several deans and vice presidents to develop communication plans, produce formal emails, announce key college/division updates, cover events with content and photos, and create newsletters for target stakeholder audiences. Additionally, the partner develops social media strategy and assists with content planning, posting, and monitoring, while upholding university brand guidelines and coordinating with the Marketing and Communication team on larger projects that require centralized resources. This position requires a communication generalist who will work with a variety of digital platforms—project management, email marketing, photo management and graphic design—to support clients and help them leverage communication templates to meet their goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience developing and executing communication plans that include goals, audiences, messages, and success metrics; delivering key messages across diverse platforms and measuring effectiveness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate with client leaders, understand their needs, and manage expectations.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Capacity to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and independent work yielding high‑quality results.
  • Proven skill in establishing strong relationships with clients or organizational leaders.
  • Basic understanding of social media strategy and editorial content.
  • Education: advanced degree in marketing, communication, advertising, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting communications within higher education or other academic environments.
  • Experience supporting communications for healthcare‑related academic departments or programs.
  • Experience using project management software such as Lytho, Asana, Hive, Basecamp, or Kantata.
  • Experience taking event photos and managing digital photo libraries.
  • Experience using email marketing software.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and InDesign.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in higher education, journalism, or an advertising, public relations, or marketing agency setting.
