IT SYSTEMS ANALYST SUPERVISOR

DIRECTOR'S OFFICE

HELENA, MT

The IT Systems Analyst works within the Information Technology Bureau in the Montana Department of Corrections' Director's Office. This office provides critical support to the department's executive team through communications, financial services, legal services, and human resources. The landscape of corrections is constantly evolving, and this team is at the forefront of managing this change on behalf of Montana citizens. Join us today!

The IT Systems Analyst Supervisor at the Montana Department of Corrections is a strategic, forwardthinking leader who drives the alignment of the agency's technology systems with its broader mission and operational goals. This role leads the research, planning, design, and implementation of new technologies while managing the department's desktop and network infrastructure. The Supervisor evaluates user needs, directs complex technology projects from inception to completion, develops standard operating procedures, ensures compliance with state and federal standards, and collaborates closely with SITSD and external vendors. They also oversee essential maintenance functions, including system upgrades, patches, advanced hardware repair, and the unique Inmate Network Desktop Infrastructure that supports educational and operational programs within correctional facilities.

In addition to technical leadership, the IT Systems Analyst Supervisor manages a team of eight employees and plays a central role in cultivating a highperforming, wellsupported workforce. This includes overseeing recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and staff development to ensure employees have the tools and knowledge needed to meet evolving organizational needs. The Supervisor sets clear expectations, monitors progress toward goals, resolves issues promptly, and adjusts staffing based on project priorities. They also evaluate technology procurement requests, conduct costbenefit analyses, ensure alignment with strategic plans, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. This dynamic role is ideal for a collaborative, solutionsoriented professional eager to shape the future of technology within the Montana Department of Corrections.

The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.00 per hour or 2.5%, whichever is greater, effective July 1, 2026, in accordance with HB13.

QUALIFICATIONS

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology or related field;

  •  Four years of relevant experience supporting business needs with IT solutions.

  • Two years of relevant supervisory experience.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
