Job description
Our team is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to develop, implement, and oversee procurement efforts. You will be working with data management, raw materials, chemicals, packaging, co-pack items, finished goods for resale, supplies, and capital equipment. Our Senior Buyer is responsible for tactical and strategic roles with reporting requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements commodities and purchasing strategies to ensure that purchases and data management conform to internal approval requirements, pre-determined quality standards, required specifications, process flows and scope of projects or products.
- Builds reliable sources of high quality, product differentiated purchases, competitively priced from approved suppliers.
- Develops low risk supply chains including robust risk mitigation of key commodities to ensure continued supply even in challenging times.
- Negotiates contracts and pricing while understanding the global marketplace of their category.
- Aggressively pursues supply chain efficiency, supplier claims, rebates, rework cost mitigation and cost saving projects, while ensuring that all products continue to meet required minimum standards.
- At minimum meets, expected to exceed, annual objective targets set by leadership.
- Tracks, reports, and supports targets, outcomes, and results, providing data on out of stocks, inventory positions and other required measures to inform leadership of company performance.
- Creates and analyzes all data to make informed decisions on purchases, inventory levels, supply chain risk and receipt of goods to meet company requirements.
- Maintains positive relationships with suppliers across their category and internal stakeholders, while understanding the competitive nature of the category and ensuring price competitiveness of suppliers.
- Ensures purchasing documents are complete and terms and conditions of purchases are appropriate, understands supply chain costs and continues to negotiate for improved terms.
- Develops systems and maintains proper inventory levels on their responsible and team items, ensuring to meet company requirements, safety stock and out of stock metrics.
- Responsible for collection and maintenance of supplier documentation to support regulatory compliance and internal supplier approval program.
- Travels domestically and internationally as needed to meet with suppliers and potential suppliers, attend trade shows and association meetings as per approval from VP Global Procurement. Travel to the other Frontier facilities as needed.
- Has a critical role in assuring food safety, data and certification management, quality, sustainability, regulatory and continuous improvement.
- Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
- Ability to work with a large cross-functional team to drive action and results.
- Ability to multi-task, remain organized and prioritize work while meeting deadlines.
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
- Must be independent, possess ingenuity and have strong work ethic.
- Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in purchasing, supply chain, business or engineering from four-year college or university; and 5+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Our ideal candidate, should have the ability to:
- Read, analyze, and interpret such items as highly detailed professional, scientific, and technical journals, legal documents, and internal data.
- Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from both inside and outside the company.
- Write memos and communicate using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to such groups as top management, boards of directors, associations, or the general public.
QUANTITATIVE SKILLS
- Comprehension of complex financial principles and possess strong quantitative and analytical skill sets
- Use a computer, with experience knowledge of ERP/M3 preferred, butminimally able to utilize Microsoft software, being proficient at intermediate to advanced Excel e.g. pivot tables, formulas and sorting/filtering features.
- Create highly customized spreadsheets and charts, run reports, and interpret data. Understanding data import programs
- Analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and detailed types of financial
- Solve problems, analyze processes and apply judgment, as well as implement continuous improvement ideas through informal leadership
- Analyze inventory reports, creating summaries and providing meaningful explanations to management
- Capable of creating documents, and applying that information to communicate, as well as make long-term, strategic decisions.
