Job description

Electrical Commissioning Manager Overview

We are seeking experienced Electrical Commissioning Managers to join our diverse and inclusive team supporting the delivery of a large-scale, mission-critical data center development in Texas. This vital role offers professionals an opportunity to lead electrical commissioning activities during a critical phase of the project. As a key member of the developer's on-site project team, you will represent the developer on-site, collaborating closely with third-party Commissioning Agents, General Contractors, and subcontractors to drive systems through Level 3, Level 4, Integrated Systems Testing, and final turnover. This position embraces diversity and fosters equality and inclusion, welcoming candidates from all backgrounds to contribute their unique perspectives and expertise. The project involves more than 160MW of capacity across multiple data halls, with an accelerated commissioning schedule requiring strong technical judgment, accurate real-time reporting, and confident leadership to identify and resolve issues. This is a field-based role with rolling engagement, providing potential for extension or redeployment across a wider portfolio of mission-critical developments.

ResponsibilitiesOwner's Representation

Represent the developer's interests across all assigned electrical commissioning activities. Act as the discipline-specific commissioning lead and primary field contact for the developer. Hold the third-party Commissioning Agent, General Contractor, and subcontractors accountable for agreed deliverables. Maintain consistent field presence and provide clear visibility of progress, risk, and constraints to project leadership.

Commissioning Delivery

Drive assigned electrical systems through Level 3, Level 4, Integrated Systems Testing, and final turnover. Maintain commissioning schedules aligned with key project milestones. Monitor commissioning readiness, test execution, deficiencies, and closeout through completion. Identify critical showstoppers early, escalate appropriately, and lead coordinated resolution efforts. Support planning and execution of functional testing, integrated testing, and project handover activities.

Information & Issue Management

Maintain accurate real-time commissioning records using CxAlloy or equivalent platforms. Ensure test documentation, issue logs, evidence, and turnover records are complete and accurate. Track electrical commissioning issues through verification and closure. Communicate status, risks, decisions, and recovery actions clearly to project leadership and delivery partners.

Project Coordination

Collaborate closely with developers, Commissioning Agents, General Contractors, trade partners, design teams, and operations stakeholders. Integrate commissioning priorities with construction completion, quality control, and turnover requirements. Drive communication and ownership across stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Support counterpart commissioning disciplines as needed while retaining ownership of assigned scope.

QualificationsTechnical Expertise

Proven experience in electrical commissioning of mission-critical infrastructure, such as:

  • Medium Voltage and Low Voltage distribution
  • Switchgear and transformers
  • UPS systems and standby generators
  • Automatic and Static Transfer Switches
  • Protective relay systems
  • EPMS and Building Management Systems
  • Load bank testing and integrated electrical testing

Strong background in data center or mission-critical commissioning planning and execution. Familiarity with Level 3 and Level 4 commissioning activities, Functional Performance Testing, Integrated Systems Testing, and system turnover. Competency in commissioning scheduling, sequencing, readiness management, and deficiency resolution. Skilled in commissioning documentation, quality processes, and transition from construction to operations.

Personal Attributes

Proactive and accountable with a strong sense of ownership. Confident and constructive in challenging contractors and commissioning partners. Resilient and composed under pressure. Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Highly organized, responsive, and focused on critical project priorities. Pragmatic problem solver with a strong sense of urgency. Collaborative across disciplines while upholding quality and delivery standards. Flexible and prepared to support required hours to meet critical commissioning milestones.

Commitment to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion

We are dedicated to building a workplace where all individuals feel valued and respected. We encourage applications from candidates of all genders, races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, disabilities, and backgrounds. Our inclusive culture fosters innovation, collaboration, and mutual respect to deliver exceptional results.

We look forward to welcoming passionate Electrical Commissioning Managers who share our commitment to excellence and inclusivity. Join us in shaping the future of mission-critical infrastructure!
