What is a Commission SAP QA tester?

Commission SAP QA Testers are quality assurance professionals who specialize in testing SAP systems, particularly modules related to commissions and incentive management. Their main role is to design, execute, and document tests to ensure that commission calculations and related business processes operate correctly within the SAP environment. They work closely with developers, business analysts, and end users to identify defects, verify fixes, and support the deployment of new features or updates. These specialists need a good understanding of both SAP software and the specific commission structures used by their organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Commission SAP QA tester?

To thrive as a Commission SAP QA Tester, you need a solid understanding of SAP systems, software testing methodologies, and experience with commission or incentive management modules, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with SAP QA tools (such as SAP Solution Manager), test automation frameworks, and defect tracking systems is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help testers identify issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These skills ensure accurate validation of commission processes, system reliability, and seamless integration within complex SAP environments.

What are some common challenges faced by Commission SAP QA testers when validating commission modules, and how can they be addressed?

Commission SAP QA Testers often encounter challenges such as complex commission calculation logic, integration issues with upstream and downstream systems, and frequent changes in business requirements. To address these, testers should thoroughly understand the commission schema, maintain clear documentation, and collaborate closely with business analysts and developers. Regular communication and early involvement in requirement discussions can also help catch potential issues before they escalate during testing.

The QA Supervisor partners closely with Production and plant leadership to balance throughput goals with food safety requirements, leading root cause investigations and corrective actions when issues arise. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong regulatory knowledge, sound independent judgment, and the coaching skills to build a strong QA team. This person thrives in a fast-paced, chilled food manufacturing environment and communicates confidently across departments and with regulatory inspectors.

  • Partner with QA and operations management to implement and maintain food safety best practices and processes
  • Lead root cause analysis and develop CAPA (corrective and preventive action) plans in response to quality and food safety issues
  • Maintain quality control and product/process verification systems, including sampling procedures, environmental swabbing, and analytical testing
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for direct reports, including scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Conduct and facilitate internal and external quality audits (including GFSI, organic, and customer audits), documenting findings and next steps
  • Validate receiving, temperature, and inspection documentation; ensure FIFO, allergen segregation, and labeling standards are followed
  • Balance production needs with quality and food safety requirements, making independent decisions to resolve conflicts as they arise

Requirements:

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of progressive Quality Assurance or Food Safety experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching ability
  • Excellent root cause analysis and CAPA development skills
  • Strong regulatory knowledge (USDA-FSIS/FDA/GFSI)
  • Ability to balance production needs with quality and food safety requirements
  • Effective conflict resolution and cross-functional communication
  • Ability to make independent quality and food safety decisions
  • Proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of common QA applications (e.g., ProducePro)

Required Certifications:

  • HACCP Certification (or obtain within 6 months)
  • Seafood HACCP Certification (or obtain within 6 months)
  • Internal Auditor certification

Preferred Certifications:

  • PCQI Certification (or obtain within 6 months)
  • SQF Practitioner
  • Experience in USDA-FSIS inspected or RTE (ready-to-eat) food manufacturing preferred

Education & Experience:

  • College degree in Agriculture, Post-Harvest Physiology, Food Science, Food Technology, or related field; significant related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 2-year degree considered with 4–6 years of equivalent experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills helpful, but not required

Physical Demands

This position may work a varying schedule including early or late hours and weekends, when necessary. Work is primarily performed indoors or in a chilled food manufacturing environment for prolonged periods. Regularly required to stand, walk, squat, stoop, bend, reach, talk, and hear; required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, feel, push, or pull objects.
