Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida's gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities.

The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

This position performs fullstack networking responsibilities, including:

  • Cabling and hardware installation to advanced network engineering and architecture;
  • Administering advanced firewalls, including rule engineering and troubleshooting;
  • Applying and maintaining network security controls in accordance with FGCC and State of Florida standards;
  • Conducting lifecycle planning and performance optimization;
  • Coordinating ZeroTrust and security compliance measures;
  • Coordinating with vendors, service providers, and interagency personnel for network-related projects and support;
  • Creating training materials and conducting training regarding networking-related applications and tasks;
  • Deploying and maintaining structured cabling and physical network infrastructure;
  • Designing and maintaining network topology documentation;
  • Developing operational standards and best practices;
  • Engineering routing, switching, wireless, and VPN solutions;
  • Implementing hybridcloud and SDN/SDWAN network solutions;
  • Leading network upgrades and modernization projects;
  • Monitoring network performance using diagnostics tools;
  • Participating in cybersecurity response activities;
  • Supporting and maintaining the agency's Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network connection and ensuring compliance;
  • Supporting core services such as DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VoIP, and wireless;
  • Testing and maintaining disaster recovery strategies;
  • Working with vendors and partners on engineering tasks; and
  • Performing special projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of professional network engineering experience in a government or enterprise environment; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 
  • Experience with cabling and physical equipment installation.
  • Experience with cloud services, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, SDN/SDWAN.
  • Experience with multisite network environments.
  • Experience with standards such as BICSI, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, ISO 9001 and NIST SP Frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, FCP or higher. 
  • Experience in government, regulatory, or law enforcement network environments.
