Job Description:

Savannah Technical College seeks a full-timeBiologyInstructor. This position is based at theSavannah Campus,butmay require regular travel tootherSavannah Technical College campus locations. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • instructing students, developing program syllabi,goalsandobjectives;

  • evaluating students' progress inattaininggoals andobjectives;

  • ensuring student learning outcomes areattainedand appropriately recorded;

  • requesting andmaintainingsupplies and equipment;

  • maintaining program certification requirements, asappropriate;

  • preparing andmaintainingall required documentation and administrative reports;

  • maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops,seminarsand conferences;

  • ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom;

  • providing academic advisement to students;

  • meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss instructional programs and other issuesimpactingthe progress of students;

Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, studentadvisementand registration.Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching daysbetween campus locations.May berequiredto manage and recruit adjuncts.Must fully embrace the responsibility formaintainingan acceptable number of students within this programand alsowork diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields by working directly with local employers and the Department of Labor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters of ArtorMastersof Science degree inBiology,or aMastersdegree with 18 graduate semester hours inBiologycoursesfrom a regionally accredited institution.

  • One year of paid teaching experience.

  • Excellenthuman-relations, interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated skills inusageof Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have been credentialed to teach, and havetaught,Biologyat a regionally accredited collegiate/university level.

  • Three years of full-time, paid teaching experience.

  • Experience teaching high-school dual enrollment.

  • Experience with Blackboard and Banner.

Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in a classroomand laboratoryenvironment with intermittent sitting, standing,or walking in various settings.The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight.Fullrange of hand and finger motion may beutilizedfor data entry purposes.
