The Energy Information Research Associate analyzes the fiscal, economic, and employment consequences of energy, natural-resource, and environmental programs. This includes quantifying impacts of water-management districts, OSR/NRTA expenditures, certification programs, CCUS deployment, industrial reinvestment, and restoration activities. The Research Associate will help the Department and Legislature anticipate tradeoffs, costs, benefits, and regional implications of long-term policy decisions. Conducts economic and/or engineering modeling tied to statewide water and energy planning, NRTA investments, CCUS, restoration programs, and industrial development. Develops expertise in cost-benefit analyses, technoeconomic analysis, workforce projections, fiscal impact assessments, and economic dashboards for legislative and executive decision-makers.

Job Responsibilities:

-Support modeling for statewide water planning, NRTA investments, OSR prioritization, CCUS projects, and industrial modernization. (25%)

-Support cost-benefit analyses and impact assessments related to plugging wells, restoring sites, and preventing future liabilities. (20%)

-Support regional economic models showing workforce, tax, infrastructure, and industrial impacts of Department programs. (15%)

-Support development and updating of dashboards and visualizations for decision makers, including legislative committees and Commission members. (15%)

-Analyze long-term funding strategies, bond structures, credit-market interactions, and financial assurance frameworks. (10%)

-Provide rapid-response economic assessments to leadership for time-sensitive decisions. (10%)

-Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field or a bachelor's degree and two years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree. Master's student or early-career economist or applied engineer trained in applied economics, econometrics, public finance, technoeconomic analysis or energy systems modeling; strong modeling and data-analysis skills; experience with natural-resource or energy-sector economic questions preferred.
