Indianapolis, IN | Temp-to-Hire | $20/hr to Start
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
About the Role
BESTAFF is hiring a Parts Prep associate for a growing machine shop in Indianapolis that rebuilds transmissions for heavy equipment. No experience needed — just a mechanical mindset and a willingness to learn. If you like working on your own car, fixing up a lawnmower, or doing your own oil changes, you already have what it takes to succeed here. This is an entry-level opportunity with a clear path to grow: start at $20/hr and increase your pay as you take on new roles and responsibilities.
What You'll Do
- Prep and inspect transmission parts for heavy equipment rebuilds
- Operate a forklift and material lifting equipment safely (training available)
- Use basic math and US/metric measurement skills to check part specs
- Lift and maneuver materials up to 50 lbs as needed
- Communicate positively and effectively with your team
- Learn to maintain the equipment and machines you operate
- Keep your workspace clean, organized, and free of hazards
What You Bring
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Hands-on mechanical experience — working on cars, small engines, or doing your own repairs
- Comfort using hand tools
- Ability to read and follow written and diagrammed instructions in English
- Visual acuity for close work, color differentiation, and depth perception
