Job description

The Baillie Group is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our team in Williamsport, PA. This is a full-time opportunity with a world-class hardwood lumber organization that values safety, teamwork, and long-term career growth. The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to support daily mill and yard operations while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Equipment Operator Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, forklifts, excavators, and other material handling equipment
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize logs, lumber, and other materials throughout the facility and yard
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks
  • Maintain safe and efficient operation of equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations
  • Assist with yard organization and inventory movement to support production operations
  • Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
  • Work closely with production and yard personnel to maintain workflow efficiency
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, logging, sawmill, or construction environment preferred
  • Ability to safely operate loaders, forklifts, or other industrial equipment
  • Strong awareness of workplace safety practices
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment inspections
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
