Introduction to Role

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of patients with rare diseases? As an Associate Global Medical Director, you will report to the Senior Director and play a crucial role in planning, tactical execution, and leadership for haematology, nephrology, and transplant indications. You will provide scientific and medical support with a deep understanding of the medical landscape, supporting the development and implementation of long‑term strategies that align with Alexion's overall mission to increase patient outcomes.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Contributing to the situational assessment and the global product strategy development, including harmonization of activities involving KOLs.
• Contributing to in‑year global medical strategy, implementation, and budget plan for global initiatives.
• Providing medical strategic recommendations for in‑line life cycle management (LCM) and late phase pipeline programs.
• Contributing to Phase3b/4 and ESR evidence generation strategy for late phase pipeline and in‑line TA programs.
• Providing clear strategic guidance and support to scientific communications, internal medical training, external medical education (CME, Symposia, medical education), Medical Info, GHEOR teams in developing functional plans supporting the global medical strategy.
• Collaborating with the country medical TA lead to ensure local activities are aligned with global medical strategy and that Global Medical is sufficiently aware of country insights and needs. Help ensure alignment between Global and Country Medical Plans.

Medical Expert and Resource

• Contributing to and leading when appropriate content development and presentation for external medical education programs, and other Global Medical initiatives.
• Contributing to and participating in therapeutic training programs for Alexion personnel.
• Medical affairs review of field medical tools, internal commercial training material.
• Contributing to medical affairs review of reimbursement dossiers.
• Medical affairs review of congress activities.

Strategic Partnerships

• Development and execution of Global KOL medical engagement strategy.
• Providing TA KOL engagement strategy and guidance to country medical teams in developing country KOL engagement plans.
• Establishing and/or enhancing partnerships with key academic institutions and developing relationships with global key thought leaders.
• Planning, designing, and managing global medical Advisory Boards and gathering insights from regional/local medical Advisory Boards.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Must have a PhD, PharmD or MD level degree or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience in medical affairs organization (med info, grant processing, field MSL team, KOL management, scientific communications).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven track record to manage different resources and vendor management.
• Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and negotiating skills.
• Adaptability and agility in a dynamic environment with proven track record to work on teams and independently.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated track record and ability to drive results as an effective team member and project leader.
• Established ability to work with KOLs and HCPs to innovate and challenge the status quo while implementing Medical Affairs tools to improve patient care and outcomes.
• Must demonstrate energy and passion which brings a positive approach to all challenges sense of ethics and responsibility.
• Travel required up to 25%.
• The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $166,792.80 to $218,915.55. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short‑term incentive bonuses, equity‑based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
