SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is a multi-trade role responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving manufacturing equipment across the facility. This position has a primary focus on electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, and control panels, while also requiring strong mechanical and machining expertise. This role supports electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and tooling systems to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, and control panels
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Read, interpret, edit, and create PLC ladder logic
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Install, wire, and commission motors, sensors, VFDs, and control devices
  • Perform mechanical repairs including motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, bearings, and drive systems
  • Troubleshoot and maintain conveyors, presses, and production equipment
  • Read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings
  • Support automation upgrades and new equipment installations
  • Use machining tools (lathe, mill, grinders, welding) to fabricate/repair components
  • Troubleshoot and maintain safety systems (light curtains, scanners, interlocks)
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, LOTO, and Arc Flash standards
  • Able to communicate with operators and support training
  • Maintain maintenance records and documentation

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • HMI systems and automation interfaces
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Industrial electrical systems (AC/DC - 480V, 240V, 120V, low-voltage DC)
  • Safety systems (light curtains, safety scanners, interlocks)
  • Troubleshooting and validation of machine safety circuits
  • Use of multimeters, megohm meters, and electrical testers
  • Mechanical troubleshooting (bearings, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics)
  • Machining (lathe, mill, grinders, welding, cutting tools)
  • E-CAD and electrical schematic interpretation/modification

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated multi-trade capability (electrical, controls, and mechanical)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing (required)
  • Technical certification or associate degree preferred
  • Experience with E-CAD and electrical schematics strongly preferred
  • Military or equivalent hands-on experience accepted

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Manufacturing environment (heat, cold, noise)
  • PPE required at all times
  • High activity level

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years of experience in an environment with high tech machines.
  • Prior manufacturing, maintenance, electrical and mechanical experience preferred.
  • High school/GED or Trade school in machines
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
