Position Summary: Caremark, LLC., a CVS Health company, is hiring for the following role in Hartford, CT: Principal Data Engineer to build, develop, and maintain cloud-native software web applications and systems in support of CVS business needs and end customers. Duties include: assist with cloud-native application development, web development, API integration and scaling them in real time to meet internal users and end-customer customer needs; participate in entire software lifecycle development, testing, CI/CD and production operations; develop large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs; write ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing; collaborate with Data Science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes; leverage knowledge of Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands, and designing and optimizing queries to build data pipelines; utilize programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems; build data marts and data models to support Data Science and other internal customers; integrate data from a variety of sources and ensure adherence to data quality and accessibility standards; analyze current information technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions; and experiment with available tools and advise on new tools to provide optimal solutions that meet the requirements dictated by the model/use case; and mentor junior Cloud Engineers. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Requires five (5) years of experience in each of the following: •\tSoftware development lifecycle (SDLC); •\tCI/CD, Jenkins, GIT, or DevOps; •\tJava, Python, or Node.js; •\tXML, JSON, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript; •\tAgile methodologies or SAFe Software Development Principles; •\tAngular, JavaScript, React, jQuery, Ajax, Bootstrap, or Backbone; •\tREST, SOAP, or Web Service APIs; •\tDocker or Kubernetes; •\tHadoop and Hive; •\tSpark, PySpark, or Scala; •\tAirflow, Kafka, Hbase, Pig, MySQL, or NoSQL; •\tUnix, Linux, or Shell scripting; •\tDeveloping backend services, performing code reviews, and collaborating with peers on software development solutions; •\tContributing to large-scale applications development, data science, or data analytics projects; •\tDesigning data models and solutions for analytical and reporting use cases; •\tBig Data implementation; •\tDeveloping data science products; •\tDesigning data architectures, including data pipelines, distributed computing engines, and machine learning infrastructure design; •\tEnd-to-end data science lifecycle/workflow; •\tProduct management in a large, matrixed organization with many internal partners; •\tWorking with UI/UX teams to develop wireframes and prototypes based on end user feedback and human centered design; •\tHealthcare data management processes and techniques, including data standards, interoperability, and proper data privacy; and •\tSupporting large data, analytics, and technology modernization initiatives. Pay Range: $147430.00/year to $288400.00/year.

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
