About Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital: Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital is a growth investing platform with over $2Bn of AUM across dedicated equity and credit funds. The team targets $20M to +$75M equity and credit investments in high‐growth, capital efficient companies across all sectors, with a focus on the technology, consumer and healthcare verticals primarily in North America and Western Europe. Investments include first institutional, growth carve‐out, founder liquidity, secondary and follow‐on opportunities. Responsibilities Analysts on our platform will be trained to evaluate opportunities across the entire capital structure, including equity and debt. Source new investment opportunities by representing Expansion Capital in networking, direct outreach, and other externally facing capacities Perform due diligence on investment opportunities, including financial modeling, industry research, market research, and developing a deep understanding of customers and competition Assist in supporting support portfolio companies post‐investment This position is a two‐to‐three‐year role, with Analysts moving to either other investment, corporate development, or operating roles after their program with Expansion Capital. However, this opportunity does have the potential to evolve into a long‐term role for exceptionally high‐performing Analysts. Qualifications Superior academic and performance record One to two years of investment banking or other relevant finance experience (growth equity, venture capital, private equity, private credit, or other direct investing roles). Software industry coverage experience preferred, but all relevant industry coverage experience (e.g., technology, consumer, healthcare) will be considered Strong knowledge of accounting, and financial statement analysis Three‐statement model assessment given at the beginning of interview process to determine relevant expertise Excellent written, and verbal presentation skills Excellent interpersonal skills, and desire to network directly with founders and management teams to source new relationships and investment opportunities for the investment team Maturity to operate both independently and as part of a team, and work directly with founders and management teams of companies Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting or related discipline preferred WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long‐term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
