Job description

Valley Medical Group and The Valley Hospital are seeking an accomplished and visionary Thoracic Surgeon to serve as Director, Thoracic Surgery, at Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care. This role combines technical excellence, including minimally invasive and robotic surgical skills, with compassion and professionalism. The Director will lead and innovate in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to a program with longstanding accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Practice Info

  • Collaborate with a team of pulmonologists, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and critical care specialists.
  • Practice offers a broad case mix including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal disease, and foregut disorders.
  • Robust clinical trials infrastructure with ongoing clinical trials for patients with thoracic diseases.
  • The cancer center is in the Luckow Pavilion, directly across from the new, state-of-the-art hospital.
  • The Luckow Pavilion is home to Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Thoracic Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, and Radiation Oncology.
  • The Luckow Pavilion also features ambulatory operating rooms, a modern infusion center, and a state-of-the-art radiation oncology facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director, Thoracic Surgery.
  • Combine technical excellence, including minimally invasive and robotic surgical skills, with compassion and professionalism.
  • Advance the field through leadership, education, and clinical innovation.
  • Serve as a faculty member in Valley's General Surgery Residency Program and Valley's Advanced GI Fellowship Program.

Compensation

  • Compensation range from $550,000 to $600,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • BE or BC in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery
  • Existing or Eligibility for New Jersey Medical License, DEA and CDS required
  • Academic appointment to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is available for appropriate candidates.
