Job description

Founded in 1930, Fisher College, a private not-for-profit institution located on the Back Bay section of Boston, offering over 30 different Bachelor and Graduate-level programs, both on campus and online. The core offerings at Fisher reflect liberal arts, but the majors and graduate programs reflect an expertise in practical fields like management, marketing, communication, accounting, fashion merchandising, criminal justice, biology, and information technology.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one section of CS101 Computer Concepts and Applications, at the Boston campus, on Tuesday/Thursday 2:15-3:30 and Tuesday/Thursday 3:45-5:00 for the Fall 2026 semester. The course will be taught from August 31, 2026, through December 18, 2026. This course will be taught in-person during the daytime hours. Additional time is required for training, course prep, grading, and student communications.

Overview and Responsibilities

This course provides an overview of the capabilities, use, & limitations of computers and their applications. The course will promote working knowledge of all facets of information systems such as: Hardware, software, networks, communication, security, & the Internet. Applications of technology and discussion will be in the areas of management, communications, information systems, & education. Students will perform extensive labs to develop competencies in file management, Word processor, presentation software, & spreadsheet software.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science or related field. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Higher Education teaching is desired.
  • Professional experience in information technology and computer science
  • Experience with current technology
  • Ability to work and teach in-person on Boston campus
  • Ability to teach introductory courses in Computer Science.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle.
